University Heights City Council voted Monday (May 20) to approve the creation of a property maintenance grant program to help low-income residents, including senior citizens, make necessary outdoor home repairs.

Low-income residents would be eligible to receive a grant from the city of up to $2,500 to pay for necessary repairs. Money from the grant program could only be used to make exterior maintenance corrections after a resident has been issued a city citation ordering a repair to be made.
